Year end egg count!

When I say, "Year end egg count!", I don't mean that my chicks are a year old. Not quite. But 2012 has come to an end and my girls are laying machines which is important enough for me to document. ;o)

We have a grand total of 417 eggs!

Here's the break down for you: (great for people that may want chickens one day...)
We've spent: $246.12 total including food on our girls
We've sold: 12 dozen at $3 each, profit of $36.00
Total invested: $210.12
$210.12 / 417 = 50 cents per egg!

Our cost per egg has dropped 20 cents since December 12, 2012.

Are you proud?! I know my Grandpa Dave and Care Bear are! They are the ones that suggested I keep track of this and man am I glad I did!

I am hoping that by the end of February, beginning of March, we will break even. My chicks won't even be a year old yet!

This lady is a proud chick mamma!

  1. Aunt Tina is proud of you too! I think I might keep track and see how 2013 totals out for my little flock :)

    1. You so should! I keep track of any penny I spend on them... meal worms, food, housing. Whatever it may be! And my calculations were incorrect, I've sold 12 dozen so I am doing an update =o)
