Gertrude and Harriett were the lucky little chickens today.... They got to explore the back yard and gobble up all the disgusting bugs they could possibly gobble!

Yes, they scratched. A LOT! Yes, they flapped their wings and tried to fly. (hahahahaha!!!!). On to the finding their way back home at dark.... oh lordy.
Chick 1, 2, 3, AND 4 decided they didn't really know where "home" was. Gertrude ran down to the hot tub like "uh, mom? where's home?!". Soooooo....... guess who had to get out of the hot tub in their bathing suits/swim trunks and chase down chickens?! THESE GUYS! UGH!
At this point it was dark. Like, 20 minutes past their bedtime, dark. Me: running around our back yard in a neon turqouise swimsuit (not noticeable, right?! NOT!). Jesse: white swimming shorts. Again, not noticeable, right?! NOT!
Jesse was smart and ran inside for flip-flops.... me? Not so much. My toes were frozen little icicles! So, Jesse did more of the "running" around and "throwing" chickens my way.... Here's the thing.... Jesse had Henny (or Penny... who really knows) and I was trying to coax Gertrude into The Cackle Shack.... she was standing rite in front of me, door wide open.... all I needed was a tiny little hop from her and she was home free. Instead, Jesse threw Henny (or Penny.... who really knows) "my way" which made Gertrude flip out completely, fly up out of terror and use me as a tree. YOOOUUUUUCCCHHH!!!!!!! Remember, I am darn near naked here. It's 30* out and I have a chicken clawing up me like I am a dam* TREE!
After what seemed like an hour, all four chicks were home.... and needless to say, the chicks will never come outside of their Cackle Shack again.
The End.
P.s. I hope you got enough visual out of this to laugh because I am sure our neighbors are still dying with laughter! I just hope nobody got any pictures! =/

Oh, Cami girl! I have to say I feel somewhat responsible for your after dark, half naked, frozen tootsies, chicken chasing disaster... I encouraged you to let the girls out, little did I know that your darling hens would be a tad stubborn and buck the norm. My little flock (and all those who I've heard of doing the same) just naturally go home to roost at night. Hmmm I knew a young lady once who had a mind of her own and didn't always follow the norm... could the chickie egg/apple not fall far from the tree? teeheehee
ReplyDeleteI laughed till I had tears in my eyes!!! Maybe try again and leave some bread crumbs back to the Cackle Shack :o)
ReplyDeleteLove ya!!! Mom
